Master Roaster - Mr. Ken Motoi
In 1977, Mr. Ken Motoi joined Japan UCC Coffee. He always felt that it was his honor to get into the deepest core of the coffee industry. Thereafter, he started his own operation in 1982. Now, he is the owner and operator of 15 shops in Japan. In the year of 1990, Mr. Motoi personally went to Brazil, Columbia and Indonesia and deal directly with those local coffee plantations in choosing and purchasing the best and highest quality coffee beans. Currently, Mr. Motoi has in Brazil, Columbia and Indonesia, his own affiliated coffee bean plantations.
Through World Exposition, Mr. Motoi involved in sourcing and purchasing the high quality coffee beans from those global original coffee beans growing countries. In his years of coffee roasting business, Mr. Motoi has accumulated his unique coffee roasting technique that has gained the highest recognition from the industry. His technique has been taught and applied in numerous professional coffee roasting schools or institutions.
With his 30 years of precious experience and knowledge, Mr. Motoi has injected a new strength into the Beijing Wholly Company and created a new brand – W. Coffee.
In recent years, Mr. Motoi’s Mountain Coffee, a coffee beans provider, has won the first place of Barista Coffee Competition held in Japan in 2007. Also, Mr. Motoi was the fourth runner-up in the World Barista Championship in 2007 and the first place in Cappuccino coffee making while providing coffee beans.
Ms. Barbara Dufrene, LD
She holds a law doctorate from the University of Vienna and a post graduate degree in Business Administration (IAE) from Sorbonne V, Paris.
Barbara is a member of the advisory board of W coffee company. She has served as Deputy Secretary General for the EU Cocoa Chocolate confectionary Federation from 1973-1984, Secretary General of EU Coffee Science and Coffee Trade Federations from 1982-2008, Secretary General of the European Tea Committee from 1992-2004.
Since May 2008, she has been appointed the President of “Connoisseur de Cafe” – Cafeotheque de Paris.
